Flourishing with Mindfulness and Character Strengths
The science of mindfulness is voluminous increasing over twentyfold since 2000; the science of character strengths has similarly exploded in the last decade with the advent of the VIA Classification and VIA Survey now taken by over 2 million people across every country around the globe. As both areas capture the interest and excitement of consumers as well as practitioners from the fields of coaching psychology/counseling education and business practitioners are attempting to navigate these territories and apply this work.
Followed by a primer on the concepts and research of mindfulness and character strengths the presenter will discuss the integration of these two areas offering conceptual framework and initial best practices. The presenter has created an 8-week program called Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice (MBSP) that has been piloted in 6 countries. The practice of mindfulness can be used to help individuals break strengths blindness and find balance in strengths use. Character strengths in turn can be used to break through the obstacles that emerge when attempting to develop mindfulness and often serve to ?supercharge? mindfulness meditation and mindful living. Key MBSP learning points and takeaway practices will be reviewed and experienced.
Ryan?s lectures and workshops are often referred to as ?incredibly practical and research-based.? He wants all participants to walk away from the experience not only better informed and intrigued but also knowing that they have substantive concrete exercises they can begin using later that day.
